Are you Ready? Take your Mark…Get Set…. Go!!! Happy New Year!
Let's start with gratitude for the year that has just passed. Despite the challenges, disappointments, and even losses in 2022, let’s think about (and write down) all the things for which we should be grateful:
To start, we are alive, in our right mind, and able to see the blessing of another year; we survived the storm(s), with at least a few happy moments, and some good memories. Perhaps we even made a positive impact on someone's life...
Next, we have the opportunity to start a new year from scratch, literally from day one. We can plan to have a positive, productive, and prolific 2023, yet keeping in mind the outcomes are not up to us…we simply put one foot in front of the other, do the next right thing, and have enough faith to believe the outcome will be exactly as it is supposed to be, according to God’s plan. It will either be a blessing or a lesson.
Do you have a plan? Is it written or is it simply floating around as an idea in your head? Hint Hint: Let’s get it on paper (and then start with the end in mind – see my Are You Ready for a New Beginning blog, for step-by-step instructions)!
Here’s the real challenge…Make your plan, write it down (to keep yourself accountable), but remember to take it one day at a time. Stay in the present, as it is a gift – that's why it's called "the present" - don’t get too far out into the future, and definitely stay out of the past…strive to achieve the balance of having a plan while simultaneously taking life step by step, enjoying every moment along the way.
This is paramount! For example: If you're planning a vacation, enjoy the planning process, make the packing and preparation fun, look forward to the means of travel, and relish every moment, before, during, and after the vacation. This requires intention - you want to intentionally appreciate each moment, every activity, interaction, and experience. This is how memories are created, relationships are enhanced, and stories are born!
We all know getting started is the hardest part, so do not procrastinate; just do it! Take that crucial first step and do something to get started. Start building your momentum. Once rolling along, it will fuel itself and become self-propelling. Trust me – Try it – It Works – I Promise!!!
“New Year=A New Life! Decide today who you will become, what you will give, how you will live.”

“New year – a new chapter, new verse, or just the same old story? Ultimately, we write it. The choice is ours.”
Alex Morritt
“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
“I will be eternally grateful for 2022, as it is the year I married my best friend, landed the job of my dreams, reached my 19th year of continuous sobriety, and started on an adventure of truly operating in my purpose. I am blessed beyond measure, despite the challenges along the way, and I look forward to what’s ahead!”
