Your Voice Matters

Thank you for your courage and example, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

At the end of last year, we said we were ready – we were going in – we were ready for something different. We were ready, willing, and able to embrace change, move forward, and do whatever it takes to experience our own definition of success; but how do we begin, amid a worsening international pandemic, a challenged economy, and the utter political chaos that was ushered in with 2021, at the United States Capitol on January 6th?

Where do we start and, perhaps more importantly, how do we feel safe, stable, and confident in the economic infrastructure and political climate of the United States?

Hopefully, you are still starting with the right mindset, and using the challenges of the day as fuel for your future success. As difficult as it may be, try not to be distracted. We must press on and be determined to live in the solution, as opposed to settling for being a victim, or worse, accepting defeat.

You are to remain encouraged, excited, and anticipating success with your new endeavor(s), keeping your “Why” at the forefront of your mind. Remember: Your “Why” will drive your success, regardless of what is happening around you.

Remember: Your voice matters. There are things you can do to participate in helping this country and your community heal and move forward, one person, one simple act, one conversation, and one person at a time. Just DON’T BE SILENT, as those who choose silence find themselves complicit in unacceptable behavior.

We must speak up, if only in our own families, personal networks, or neighborhoods. Courageously share your willingness to stand up for what is right, embrace positive change and, by your example, empower someone else to do the same.

The courage and fortitude you demonstrate will not only help the next person; it will help you. Your sense of purpose and self-worth will be elevated, causing you to step, even more confidently, into making your dreams a reality. Stay the course, follow your plan, and make it happen!

Remember: You made it through the infamous year 2020; and you are well-prepared for 2021! Step out on faith, have courage, and speak up, because your voice matters!

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

– Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

There comes a time when silence is betrayal.”

– Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”
